Privacy Policy

Moviemap helps you explore streaming catalogs, check availability across countries and services, and request email alerts. This policy explains how Moviemap handles personal information when you use moviemap.com.

Who is responsible for your information?

Moviemap is operated by Danilo Tanic, based in Serbia. Danilo Tanic is the data controller responsible for the personal information used to operate this service. For privacy questions or requests, contact hey@finetune.co.

Information we use

  • Account information: when you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, email address and available profile name and picture. We store these to create or link your account and display your profile. We do not receive your Google password or request access to your Gmail messages or contacts.
  • Sign-in information: we store a session identifier and expiry date to keep you signed in. The sign-in cookie contains a session reference rather than your Google password.
  • Alert preferences: when you request an alert, we store the movie or TV title, selected countries, services and offer types, together with a saved availability snapshot, subscription reference and operational check, send and error information. A pending email may temporarily contain the recipient address and message needed for delivery and reliable retries.
  • Technical information: hosting, security and email providers process information such as IP addresses, request times, device/browser details and delivery status. Your approximate country can be derived from network information to suggest relevant countries and services; Moviemap does not request precise GPS location.
  • Optional browser analytics: if you accept analytics, Google Analytics and PostHog process page visits, browser/device information and usage interactions with browser identifiers. Browser analytics does not start before acceptance. Moviemap disables session recordings and does not send account email addresses, Google identifiers or unsubscribe links to its browser analytics.
  • Support communications: if you contact us, we receive the details and message you provide.

Why we use information

We use account and session information to provide sign-in and account features. We use your saved preferences and email address to deliver the availability alerts you request and let you manage or remove them. These activities support the service you ask us to provide; where applicable, the legal basis is performance of our agreement with you or steps taken at your request.

We use necessary technical records for security, troubleshooting, reliable email delivery and preventing duplicate notifications, based on our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service. We use optional browser analytics only with your consent, which you can withdraw through Cookie settings on the Cookie Policy page.

We also measure account totals and email-send totals to operate and understand the service. Account reporting sends aggregate counts rather than names, email addresses or account identifiers to PostHog. Email reporting uses a hashed provider message reference, sender domain and send time; it does not export recipient addresses, subjects, watched-title preferences or email content to PostHog. These server-side operational reports are separate from optional browser tracking and do not depend on placing analytics storage on your device.

If we must process or retain information to comply with an applicable legal obligation, we do so for that purpose.

Availability alert emails

Alerts are requested service emails, rather than automatic enrollment in a marketing mailing list. Subscriptions can remain active after an email is sent so that later matching availability additions can generate another alert. Existing availability is normally saved as the initial baseline without sending an immediate email.

You can change or remove a title's notification through its notification controls. The unsubscribe link in an alert removes that title's subscription; it does not delete your account or every other title subscription. Sign-out also does not cancel alerts. Removing an alert cannot recall a message already accepted by the email provider.

Providers and information sharing

We use providers where needed to operate the service:

  • Cloudflare: website hosting, security and the D1 database containing accounts, sessions and alert records.
  • Google: Google sign-in, and Google Analytics when you accept browser analytics.
  • Resend: sending requested alert emails and processing message and delivery information.
  • PostHog: consent-based browser analytics and the limited operational reports described above, using our EU-hosted PostHog project.

Movie and TV information and images come from TMDB and associated availability sources. Loading third-party images, including profile pictures, can disclose your IP address and browser request information to the image provider. When you follow a streaming-service link, that service's own privacy policy applies.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect the service or someone's rights, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards. We do not sell account details or alert preferences, and do not use them to enroll you in third-party marketing.

International processing

Providers may process information in countries outside your own, including outside the European Economic Area. Our EU PostHog endpoint does not imply every provider processes all information only in the EU. Where applicable data-protection law requires transfer safeguards, the relevant arrangements must provide an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism, such as an applicable adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. Contact us for information about arrangements relevant to your data.

Retention and deletion

Account and profile details remain stored while your account exists. Saved alert preferences and availability snapshots remain while the subscription exists, including when a delivery requires review. Removing a subscription deletes its active subscription record; public movie/TV metadata may remain because it is shared by the service.

Sign-in sessions are valid for up to 30 days and are revoked when you sign out. Expired technical records, security logs, provider delivery records and backup copies can have different retention periods. Their retention is determined by the need to operate and secure the service, diagnose delivery problems, recover data, and meet applicable legal obligations; it is not a promise that all copies disappear immediately when you unsubscribe.

You can request account deletion by emailing hey@finetune.co. We may need to verify the requester's identity. We will explain any information that must be retained and the applicable reason. Signing out or removing one alert does not delete the account.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of or a portable copy of your information, object to certain processing, or request a restriction. You can withdraw optional analytics consent at any time through Cookie settings on the Cookie Policy page, without changing the lawfulness of earlier processing. Rejecting analytics does not prevent sign-in or requested alerts.

Contact hey@finetune.co to exercise your rights. Where the GDPR applies, we normally respond within one month, subject to permitted extensions. You may also complain to the relevant data-protection authority.

Security and children

We use measures intended to protect account and alert information, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Keep access to your Google account and personal unsubscribe links secure.

Moviemap is not directed at children under 13. If applicable law requires a higher age or parental authorization, those requirements apply. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information without the required authorization.

Changes and cookies

We update this page when our practices change and show the update date above. Where required, we provide additional notice or request consent before using information for a new purpose. Our Cookie Policy explains browser storage and controls.
