Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 4, 2026

This policy explains cookies and similar browser storage used by Moviemap. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small values stored by your browser and sent with matching website requests. Local storage and session storage keep values in the browser for the website or its scripts. This policy covers these technologies, not just cookies.

Essential storage

Essential storage supports features you request and remembers your privacy choice. It does not require acceptance of optional analytics.

  • Sign-in session (__session): an HTTP-only cookie holding the reference used to keep your Moviemap account signed in. Valid for up to 30 days; revoked on sign-out.
  • Google sign-in state: temporary security state used to complete Google sign-in. Short-lived during the sign-in flow.
  • Return page (redirectTo): returns you to the requested page after sign-in. Valid for up to 10 minutes, normally cleared on return.
  • Cookie choice (moviemapCookiesConsentMode): local storage recording your choice about optional analytics. Remains until replaced by your next choice or cleared from the browser.

Cloudflare may use additional necessary security cookies when protection or a challenge is applied. Google uses its own cookies on its sign-in pages, governed by Google's policies. Clearing or blocking essential storage can interrupt sign-in and cause the cookie choice to be asked again.

Optional analytics

Google Analytics and PostHog help us understand visits and use of Moviemap. We load or initialize their browser tracking only after you explicitly accept analytics. If you reject, their browser tracking remains off; sign-in and requested alerts continue working.

Google Analytics can use _ga and _ga_* first-party cookies to distinguish visits and sessions. Moviemap configures their expiry at one year; a provider or browser can remove them earlier. PostHog can use ph_* cookies and associated local/session storage for browser and session identifiers; its persistent cookie expiry is configured at one year. Provider keys and exact names can vary. Local storage has no automatic browser expiry and remains until removed or replaced.

These identifiers and associated visit information can constitute personal information; analytics is not described as entirely anonymous. Moviemap disables browser session recordings and advertising consent. The providers can process network and browser information when their scripts run.

Server-side aggregate account statistics and limited email-send reporting do not use browser analytics cookies. Their data handling is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Accept, reject or change your choice

Use Accept or Reject in the cookie notice. You can reopen it with the Cookie settings button below. Reopening the notice preserves the current choice until you select another one.

Rejecting after acceptance stops further browser analytics, removes Moviemap-accessible analytics cookies and storage, and refreshes the page to unload the tracking scripts. It does not erase information already received by an analytics provider or cookies belonging to another website. You can also use your browser controls to clear storage or block cookies; controls differ by browser.

Your choice is specific to this browser and website origin. Clearing browser storage or using a different browser, device or origin may require choosing again.
